불과 몇 년 전만 하더라도 수족관 방문 이유로 ‘돌고래쇼'를 꼽는 사람들이 많았습니다. 사육사 손짓 하나에 돌고래는 하늘을 향해 솟구치기도 하고, 등지느러미 잡은 사육사를 태우고 힘껏 달리기도 합니다.

어쩌면 즐거운 이 경험, 마치 웃는 것처럼 보이던 돌고래는 과연 행복할까요?

야생 돌고래는 하루 평균 100km를 헤엄친다고 합니다. 그런 돌고래가 좁은 수족관에만 갇혀 있었으니 얼마나 답답했을까요. 디스커버 제주에서 만나는 야생 돌고래는 제주 바다를 마음껏 헤엄치는 자유로운, 보다 행복한 돌고래들입니다. 사육사 없이도 기분이 좋으면 바다 위로 뛰어오르기도 하고, 파도를 타고 놀면서 친구 또는 가족들과 함께 지냅니다.

이미 미국, 호주 등 해외에서는 세계야생동물보호기금의 탐사규정을 토대로 하는 야생 돌고래 탐사가 활발한데요. 이제 제주에서도 디스커버 제주가 안전하고 건강하게 만드는 ‘야생 돌고래 탐사'를 만날 수 있습니다.

제주 토박이들이 어릴 때부터 만나오던 야생 돌고래

관광객들은 잘 모르지만 제주 토박이들은 바다 위를 유유히 헤엄치는 야생 돌고래를 친근하게 만나왔는데요. 제주 바다가 손바닥 위와 같다는 제주 토박이 선장님과 함께 탐사율 90%에 달하는 야생 돌고래를 만나기 위한 모험을 시작합니다.

연인, 가족, 친구, 동료들과 함께 작은 배를 타고 돌고래들이 뛰어노는 근처 바다까지 나아가서 만나게 됩니다. 야생 돌고래를 만나면, 당신도 모르게 벅찬 감동과 놀라움에 절로 웃음이 나올지 모릅니다.

제주 토박이 돌고래 선장님을 소개합니다.

야생 돌고래 탐사는 가파도에서 낚시하던 선장님과 만남에서 시작되었어요. 선장님으로 말할 것 같으면 대대로 제주 바다를 지켜온 뼛속까지 바다 사람이에요. 야생 돌고래를 어린 시절부터 일상처럼 만나 오셨다고 해요. 오랫동안 탐사를 진행해 주시면서 아마 선장님만큼 야생 돌고래를 많이 본 사람은 없을 거예요. 늘 바다와 함께하여 모슬포 앞바다는 이제 선장님 손바닥 안! 선장님의 오랜 경력으로 90% 탐사 성공률을 자랑합니다. 지금까지 아무런 사고 없이 프로그램을 진행해 주셨어요.

그러니 걱정일랑 말고! 설렘만으로 모험을 시작해 볼까요?

* 선상에서는 반드시 선장님의 통제에 따라주세요.

* 돌고래탐사 유인선은 자체 보험이 되어있습니다. (단, 당일 전체 여행에 대한 보험은 불포함)

* 최소인원 미달 및 날씨 영향으로 인해 취소될 경우 100% 환불됩니다.(당일 오전 안내)

디스커버제주 돌고래 탐사 준수 사항

1. 접근

돌고래 반경 50m 이하로 접근하지 않는다.
돌고래 반경 150m 이하에서는 접근과 관찰에 주의하고, 속도를 줄인다.

2. 행동 수칙

돌고래를 만지거나 먹이를 주지 않는다.
돌고래 주변에서는 갑작스러운 소음이나 큰소리를 내지 않는다.

3. 선박 운행

돌고래의 진행 방향 앞에서 대기하지 않는다.
돌고래의 뒤쪽으로 쫓아가지 않는다.
돌고래에게 접근할 때는 돌고래의 정면과 후면을 피하고 옆쪽에서부터 천천히 접근한다.
돌고래 주변에서는 선박의 속도를 줄이고 갑작스러운 방향전환을 하지 않는다.
어미와 새끼 돌고래가 같이 있을 경우 주의한다.
고무보트를 포함하여 여러 대의 선박이 한 번에 출항하는 경우 돌고래를 선박으로 둘러싸거나 해변과 선박 사이에 돌고래를 놓지 않는다.
한 번에 3대 이상의 선박이 돌고래에게 접근하지 않는다.

돌고래 탐사 시 위와 같은 주의사항을 잘 지켜 멸종 위기종 보호대상 해양생물인 돌고래를 보호하는 문화를 만드는데 모두 동참해 주시기 바랍니다.

주의사항은 호주, 미국, 세계야생동물보호기금에서 제안하는 준수사항을 따르고 있습니다.
